Knitting, Spinning, Linux, recipies and other crafts

based on Knitted knockers pattern

I worked out that for circle you need to increase about 4.5 stitches a row, 5 stitches is nearly there. so a pentagon.

You will need yarn, there is a list of recommended yarns of the above site but I live in UK, so a good quality cotton dpns for yarn or smaller, I used 3mm and dk yarn

My Pattern

starting at the bottom, – cast on 15 stitches, you will need a hole to put the stuffing in – divide onto needles 3,6,6 stitches – adjust later on to 4/5 needles increase 1st and every 3rd stitch every row. – next row: increase every 4th stitch – next row: increase every 5th stitch e.g 1,4,7,10,12 – row 1:– 1,5,8,11,13 row 2:– 1,6,9,12,14 —don't increase every 10 row work until required diameter from cast on – purl 2 rows decrease rows, {1,3,5 row} repeat, I missed decreasing every 3rd row for a flatter tit – stuff, sew up

Sizing

the sizing from knitted knocker is in inches Cup A 5.7 cm from center (11.4 cm diameter) Cup B 6.4 cm from center (12.7cm diameter) Cup C 7 cm (14 cm diameter) Cup D 7.6 cm (15.2 cm diameter) Cup DD/E 8.3 cm (16.5 cm diameter) Cup F 8.9cm (17.8cm diameter)

Needed

3mm needles dpns 4mm needles for casting on and off about 160m yarn 50g 4 ply, 100g dk dk (thick and warm) or 4 ply

cast on 48 stitches 4mm needle change to 3mm needle rib 4 to 8cm I used 2x2 rib if no pattern 2 the same k 2 rows (add more here if you want to make longer)

increase every 3rd row row 1: k1 m1 k1 m1 k... row 4 k1 m1 k3 m1 k... row 7 k1 m1 k5 m1 k... ... k1 m1 k15 m1 k.. k2 rows continue here until start of thumb

put 17 stitches on thread cast on 2 knit 5cm
rib 1cm cast off loosley 4mm needles you can make a stitch every 3rd stitch by yarn over and casting off

divide stitches on thread and pick up 3 stitches 1 cm rib cast off loosley using 4mm needle

to make a body warmer with a leave colourwork pattern with all the spare sock wool in the background. The pattern from Jameson and Smith in the Shetland Iies, the patter doesn't tell you how to steek but tells you how many stitches to add for the sleeves

have bought 8 balls need zips for pockets and front

based on 384 + 7 stitches bottom up Steek down the front Steeks for side pockets based on length of pockets in favourate fleeces at point where you start to cast off for sleeves. about from 2cm above where pattern starts -backs are just a rectangle of stocking stitch

rib back and forth for 5cm pattern 2cm add steek stitches for pockes

Steeked based on Iced Petals Jumper from Drops Design “Knitted jumper with round yoke and Nordic pattern in DROPS Sky. The piece is worked top down. Sizes S – XXXL.”

Yarn

Handspun 2 strands Corridale and 1 strand bamboo in a slighty different view, about a thin/cheap dk the contrast is three strand polworth

Prep

knitted a hat, was too tight so have decided to just add more stitches to get the correct size 24/21 x number of stitches 8/7, turns out this is the xxxl of the pattern, will keep the vertical distances the same the jumper will be a lot longer that the original pattern

17th May 2024

- completed rib for neck 2x2 as I am lazy going backwards and forwards going in the round when stocking stitch - 2nd row short row, will add more short rows after pattern on yoke is finished - got to 13th row of pattern

18th May 2024

did 5 rows of pattern, fabric feeling thick and soft

20 May 2024

obsessed with this pattern now, will need to spin some more yarn soon nearly finished pattern will have to add short rows to lower neck

##21 May 2024
